1. General information

1.1. Aims of the course

In line with the objectives of the degree, this subject aims to contribute to the student having tools for a broad understanding of social processes and phenomena, in such a way that:

a) To discover and justify the need to resort to qualitative methodology for the analysis of certain social realities.

b) To know and apply qualitative social research techniques and instruments.

1.2. Context and importance of this course in the degree

This optional subject taught in the second semester is integrated into Module A of the General Plan of
Degree, "Social work: concepts, methods, theories and application", and specifically in the subject A4 called
"Research, diagnosis and evaluation in Social Work". This supposes that the contents of "Methods and techniques of
qualitative research applied to Social Work "are related to those of" Research methods and techniques in
Social Work ", which is taught as compulsory in the second year, first semester. Start in qualitative techniques
It implies, therefore, already possessing certain knowledge of introductory aspects of research in general.
Likewise, the contents of the two aforementioned subjects are related to the objectives set in the subject.
"Research Practicum" that is taught in the third year, second semester. The realization of the latter requires,
therefore, of the previously acquired knowledge on research methods and techniques. Similar situation occurs
With the contribution of what has been learned in this subject for the elaboration of the Final Degree Project.

1.3. Recommendations to take this course

The students already studied in the second year the subject of? Methods and techniques of social research in
Social Work. The student who has chosen to study this elective is therefore assumed to have a special interest.
for broadening and deepening in contents referring to social research, and in particular, those referring to
the methodology and qualitative instruments. You should also be motivated to know how they can
know social realities from a qualitative approach with which later as a professional you will meet and
who should give adequate answers.
It is recalled that the main protagonist of the process is the student; your involvement and effort are essential for
success. If you follow the program with these recommendations, it will be much easier to face the readings and activities
raised.

2. Learning goals

2.1. Competences

A competence (the demonstrated ability to use knowledge and skills, according to the European Commission) has
an infinite development perspective, therefore, each subject develops part of the resources necessary for training
in various competitions. In accordance with the provisions of the verification report of the Degree, initial project of the
degree, this subject will develop knowledge in line with the following skills:
a) Apply the different qualitative research methods throughout its various phases.
b) Understand the relationship between research, diagnosis, evaluation and practice of social work, from the perspective
qualitative.
c) Use qualitative methods and techniques to assess the needs, capacities, opportunities and risks of
users, groups and communities, incorporating the participation of individuals or groups in the process
interested.
d) Manage qualitative information from a variety of sources.

2.2. Learning goals

The student, to pass this subject, must demonstrate the following results, in line with the content of the Grade Memory: 1) Understand the importance and the need to resort to the scientific perspective and to research. 2) Identify the characteristics and the process of the qualitative approach of social research. 3) Design and apply the qualitative techniques and instruments of social research. 4) Manage qualitative information from a variety of sources.

2.3. Importance of learning goals

The study of social realities from a qualitative perspective is key for the Social Work professional. The main contributions of the subject are summarized in two main areas: a) the application of the qualitative methodology in the diagnosis of social problems and needs and in the evaluation of the intervention. b) the importance of knowing the subjects in the social research for the researcher will have been grasped and groups under study and having them not only as a source of information but also as active agents in the investigation

3. Assessment (1st and 2nd call)

3.1. Assessment tasks (description of tasks, marking system and assessment criteria)

The student must demonstrate that he has achieved the expected learning results through different evaluation activities.

According to the Learning Standards Regulation, the student has the possibility to choose between two ways to demonstrate that he has achieved the expected learning results:

A- Through a global evaluation, to be held on the official dates that are published, within the period established by the Governing Council in the academic calendar for this course.

B-Through continuous evaluation, as it is understood in the regulations of the University of Zaragoza: "... the evaluation through a set of systematic and regular tests distributed throughout the teaching period, as small frequent exams, portfolios, reports, works, projects, actions, practical realizations or any other form of evaluable evidence ".

The students must communicate to the teaching staff the evaluation path they choose in the first week of teaching.

GLOBAL ASSESSMENT. The written test will be held on the official dates within the period established by the Governing Council in the academic calendar for this course. Taking into account the distribution of credits-activities, the qualification of the subject attending this evaluation will be:

- 50% through a written test corresponding to the basic and fundamental contents of the subject developed in the activities-hours Type 1. This test will be a test type test and / or a test of development. It will be held on the day indicated in the official announcements.

- 25% through a written test corresponding to the contents developed in the hours Type 2. This test will consist of a practical realization composed of several questions about a qualitative research and / or the resolution of a practical / theoretical assumption raised.

- 25% through the realization of a work corresponding to the contents / activities developed in the hours Type 6. In the program of the subject (available to students through the add from the first week of teaching) will specify the approach, characteristics and deadlines relative to the work cited.

CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT. To opt for this evaluation route, it is required to assiduously attend the Type 1, the Type 2 and the Type 6 sessions. Taking into account the distribution of credits-activities, the qualification of the continuous evaluation will be carried out in the following way :

- 50% through two written tests corresponding to the contents developed in the hours Type 1. Both tests will be test type tests and / or development tests. We will proceed to perform the arithmetic mean of both.

- 25% through weekly practical achievements corresponding to the contents developed in the hours Type 2 (10%) and through the realization of two practical / theoretical assessable assumptions (15%).

- 25% through the completion of a work corresponding to the contents / activities developed in the hours Type 6. In the program of the subject (available to students through the Add from the first week of teaching) the approach, characteristics and deadlines related to work.

The final grade will consist of the average of the grades obtained in each of the different teaching activities, being necessary and essential a minimum grade of 4 in each part (T1, T2 and T6), according to the weighting criteria that have been described .

Evaluation criteria:

Test type tests. The final grade will be obtained by the following formula:

In accordance with article 30 of the Rules for the Evaluation of Learning, the use of any irregular practice in the performance of the different exercises and / or tests will imply a qualification of failure in the corresponding exercise or test.

Partial grades from one course to another are not saved.

In the event that the suspension of classroom teaching activities occurs, the changes that should be made will be introduced through addenda as has been done in the 2019-2020 academic year, following the instructions established by the University authorities.

4. Methodology, learning tasks, syllabus and resources

4.1. Methodological overview

This course has both a theoretical and applied orientation that is required both for its content and for its usefulness for social work. These contents are fundamentally configured by elements of knowledge (such as the understanding of basic concepts) and know-how (application in the field of the exercise of the profession). The learning process is active: the students are the protagonist.

The teaching staff will provide different elements to facilitate learning, among them, those provided through the course of the subject in the ADD.

Type 1 teaching activities will basically consist of expository classes with the group as a whole, where the theoretical foundations of the course will be exposed and worked on, basically through presentations and readings that will be the content to learn and understand.

Type 2 teaching activities will involve a more practical approach to the course. They will be closely connected with the contents seen in the T1 activities. Qualitative research will be reviewed, practical research assumptions will be resolved through exchanges of ideas, debates, individual and/or group work on texts, data, current research, with half of the group. Each of them can contain both individual and group work.

The autonomous work that must be developed will consist of:

• The collection and selection of relevant material.

• Reading and studying material.

• Preparation of the evaluation test.

• Prior preparation and subsequent work after attending the various teaching activities.

• Preparation of readings, works, and practical exercises.

4.3. Syllabus

4.4. Course planning and calendar

In the event that face-to-face teaching activities are suspended, the changes that should be made will be introduced through addenda as was done in the 2019-20 academic year, following the instructions established by the University authorities.

The detailed programming of the learning activities will be provided at the beginning of the teaching period, in accordance with the principles already exposed, adapting to the calendar and schedules.

The activities and key dates will be adjusted to the calendar and schedules established by the dean's team and published in the center. On the activities that correspond to the demands of the particular methodology applied in the subject (such as presentation of works, presentations in the classroom, etc.), the professors will duly inform the students about the established dates and conditions. In this case, it must be taken into consideration that the priority information and communication channel will be through the open course in the ADD.

The organization and development of face-to-face teaching will be subject to the planning of the spaces carried out by the center in accordance with the instructions of the health and academic authorities.

1. Información Básica

1.1. Objetivos de la asignatura

En consonancia con los objetivos del grado, esta asignatura pretende contribuir a que el/la estudiante disponga de herramientas

para la comprensión amplia de los procesos y fenómenos sociales, de tal manera que:

Descubra y justifique la necesidad del recurso a la metodología cualitativa para el análisis de ciertas realidades sociales.
Conozca y aplique técnicas e instrumentos de investigación social cualitativa.

Estos planteamientos y objetivos están alineados con los siguientes Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de la Agenda 2030 de Naciones Unidas (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), de tal manera que la adquisición de los resultados de aprendizaje de esta asignatura proporciona capacitación y competencia para contribuir en cierta medida a su logro

Objetivo 5: Igualdad de género.
Objetivo 10: Reducción de las desigualdades.

El planteamiento, metodología y evaluación se ajustarán, en el caso de que cambien las condiciones sociosanitarias, siguiendo las indicaciones que den las autoridades competentes.

En el supuesto de que se produjera la suspensión de actividades docentes presenciales, los cambios que debieran hacerse en diversos elementos de esta guía, se realizarán siguiendo las instrucciones que establezcan las autoridades de la Universidad.

1.2. Contexto y sentido de la asignatura en la titulación

Esta asignatura, de carácter optativo impartida en el segundo cuatrimestre, se integra en el Módulo A del Plan General de Grado, "El Trabajo social: conceptos, métodos, teorías y aplicación", y concretamente en las materia A4 denominada "Investigación, diagnóstico y evaluación en Trabajo Social". Ello supone que los contenidos de "Métodos y técnicas de investigación cualitativa aplicados a Trabajo Social" guardan relación con los de "Métodos y técnicas de investigación en Trabajo Social", que se imparte como asignatura obligatoria en segundo curso, primer cuatrimestre. Iniciarse en técnicas cualitativas implica, por tanto, poseer ya ciertos conocimientos de aspectos introductorios sobre la investigación en general.

Igualmente, los contenidos de las dos asignaturas señaladas guardan relación con los objetivos planteados en la asignatura "Practicum de investigación" que se imparte en tercer curso, segundo cuatrimestre. La realización de esta última requiere, por tanto, de los conocimientos previamente adquiridos sobre métodos y técnicas de investigación. Situación similar ocurre con la contribución de lo aprendido en esta asignatura para la elaboración del Trabajo Fin de Grado.

1.3. Recomendaciones para cursar la asignatura

Los alumnos y las alumnas ya estudiaron en segundo curso la asignatura “Métodos y técnicas de investigación social en Trabajo Social”. Al estudiante que ha optado por cursar esta optativa se le supone, por tanto, que tiene un interés especial por ampliar y profundizar en contenidos referentes a la investigación social, y en particular, en los que se refieren a la metodología e instrumentos de carácter cualitativos. También debe estar motivado/a por saber cómo pueden conocerse realidades sociales desde un enfoque cualitativo con las que más tarde como profesional se encontrará y a las que deberá dar respuestas adecuadas.

Se recuerda que el principal protagonista del proceso es el estudiante; su implicación y su esfuerzo son esenciales para el éxito. Si se sigue el programa con estas recomendaciones, será mucho más fácil enfrentarse a las lecturas y actividades planteadas.

2. Competencias y resultados de aprendizaje

2.1. Competencias

Una competencia (la capacidad demostrada de utilizar conocimientos y destrezas, de acuerdo a la Comisión Europea) tiene una perspectiva de desarrollo infinita, por ello, cada asignatura desarrolla parte de los recursos necesarios para la formación en diversas competencias. De acuerdo con lo establecido en la memoria de verificación del Grado, proyecto inicial de la titulación, esta asignatura desarrollará conocimientos en la línea de las siguientes competencias:

a) Aplicar los diferentes métodos de investigación cualitativa a lo largo de sus diversas fases.

b) Comprender la relación entre investigación, diagnóstico, evaluación y práctica del trabajo social, desde la perspectiva cualitativa.

c) Utilizar los métodos y técnicas cualitativas para la evaluación de necesidades, capacidades, oportunidades y riesgos de las personas usuarias, de grupos y comunidades, incorporando en el proceso la participación de personas o grupos interesados.

d) Gestionar la información cualitativa a partir de una diversidad de fuentes.

2.2. Resultados de aprendizaje

El/la estudiante, para superar esta asignatura, deberá demostrar los siguientes resultados, en línea con el contenido de la Memoria de Grado:

1) Comprende la importancia y la necesidad del recurso a la perspectiva científica y a la investigación.

2) Identifica las características y el proceso del enfoque cualitativo de la investigación social.

3) Diseña y aplica las técnicas e instrumentos cualitativos de la investigación social.

4) Gestiona información cualitativa a partir de diversidad de fuentes.

2.3. Importancia de los resultados de aprendizaje

El estudio de las realidades sociales desde la perspectiva cualitativa es clave para el/la profesional del Trabajo Social. Las principales contribuciones de la asignatura se resumen en dos grandes ámbitos: a) se habrá posibilitado la aplicación de la metodología cualitativa en el diagnóstico de las problemáticas y necesidades sociales y en la evaluación de la intervención. b) se habrá captado la importancia que en la investigación social tiene para el/la investigador el conocer a los sujetos y grupos objeto de estudio y el contar con ellos no solo como fuente de información sino también como agentes activos en la investigación.

3. Evaluación

3.1. Tipo de pruebas y su valor sobre la nota final y criterios de evaluación para cada prueba

El estudiante deberá demostrar que ha alcanzado los resultados de aprendizaje previstos mediante diferentes actividades de evaluación.

De acuerdo con el Reglamento de Normas de Evaluación del Aprendizaje, el/la estudiante tiene la posibilidad de elegir entre dos vías para demostrar que ha alcanzado los resultados de aprendizaje previstos:

A- Mediante evaluación global, que se celebrará en las fechas oficiales que se publiquen, dentro del periodo establecido por el Consejo de Gobierno en el calendario académico para este curso.

B-Mediante evaluación continua, tal como es entendida en la reglamentación de la Universidad de Zaragoza: "... la evaluación a través de un conjunto de pruebas sistemáticas y regulares distribuidas a lo largo de todo el periodo docente, como pequeños exámenes frecuentes, portafolios, informes, trabajos, proyectos, actuaciones, realizaciones prácticas o cualquier otra forma de prueba evaluable".

Los/as estudiantes deben comunicar al profesorado la vía de evaluación por la que optan en la primera semana de docencia.

EVALUACIÓN GLOBAL. La prueba escrita se celebrará en las fechas oficiales dentro del periodo establecido por el Consejo de Gobierno en el calendario académico para este curso. Teniendo en cuenta la distribución de créditos-actividades, la calificación de la asignatura atendiendo a esta evaluación será:

- Un 50% a través de una prueba escrita correspondiente a los contenidos básicos y fundamentales de la materia desarrollados en las actividades-horas Tipo 1. Esta prueba será una prueba tipo test y/o una prueba de desarrollo. Se realizará el día que se indique en las convocatorias oficiales.

- Un 50% a través de una prueba escrita correspondiente a los contenidos desarrollados en las horas Tipo 2. Esta prueba consistirá en una realización práctica compuesta de varias preguntas acerca de una investigación cualitativa y/o la resolución de un supuesto práctico/teórico planteado.

EVALUACIÓN CONTINUA. Para optar por esta vía de evaluación se requiere asistir con asiduidad a las horas Tipo 1 y las sesiones Tipo 2. Teniendo en cuenta la distribución de créditos-actividades, la calificación de la evaluación continua se realizará del siguiente modo:

- Un 50% a través de dos pruebas escritas correspondientes a los contenidos desarrollados en las horas Tipo 1. Ambas pruebas serán pruebas tipo test y/o pruebas de desarrollo. Se procederá a realizar la media aritmética de ambas.

- Un 50% a través de realizaciones prácticas semanales correspondientes a los contenidos desarrollados en las horas Tipo 2 (20%) y a través de la realización de dos supuestos práctico/teóricos evaluables (30%).

La calificación final consistirá en la media de las calificaciones obtenidas en cada una de las diferenets actividades docentes, siendo necesario e imprescindible una nota mínima de 5 en cada parte (T1 y T2), atendiendo a los criterios de ponderación que han sido descritos.

Criterios de valoración:

Pruebas tipo test. La calificación final se obtendrá mediante la siguiente fórmula:

Pruebas escritas (tanto relativas a las horas T1 como T2: No se valorará la mera asistencia, ni la simple presentación de tareas, ni el esfuerzo invertido, sino el grado de logro alcanzado en base a los siguientes criterios:

- La exactitud y la precisión

- El dominio y el uso adecuado de conceptos

- El conocimiento sobre el tema

- El análisis y la coherencia

- La capacidad de síntesis y de relación

- La redacción y la ortografía

- La capacidad expositiva, desechando generalizaciones

- La capacidad de razonamiento y expresión organizada de ideas

De acuerdo con el artículo 30 del Reglamento de Normas de Evaluación del Aprendizaje, el uso de cualquier práctica irregular en la realización de los distintos ejercicios y/o pruebas supondrá una calificación de suspenso en el ejercicio o prueba correspondiente.

No se guardan las calificaciones parciales de un curso para otro.

4. Metodología, actividades de aprendizaje, programa y recursos

4.1. Presentación metodológica general

Esta asignatura tiene una orientación tanto teórica como aplicada que viene exigida tanto por sus contenidos como por la utilidad que tiene para el trabajo social. Estos contenidos están configurados fundamentalmente por elementos del conocer (como la comprensión de los conceptos básicos) como el saber hacer (aplicación en el ámbito propio del ejercicio de la profesión). El proceso de aprendizaje es activo: el alumnado es el protagonista.

El profesorado proporcionará distintos elementos para facilitar el aprendizaje, entre ellos, los facilitados a través del curso de la asignatura en el ADD.

4.2. Actividades de aprendizaje

Las actividades docentes de tipo 1 consistirán básicamente en clases expositivas con el grupo en su totalidad, donde se expondrán y trabajarán los fundamentos teóricos de la materia, básicamente a través de presentaciones y lecturas que serán el contenido a aprender y a comprender.

Las actividades docentes de tipo 2 supondrán un acercamiento más práctico a la materia. Estarán estrechamente conectadas con los contenidos vistos en las actividades T1. Se revisarán investigaciones cualitativas, se resolverán supuestos prácticos de investigación a través de intercambios de ideas, debates, trabajos individuales y/grupales sobre textos, datos, investigaciones actuales, con la mitad del grupo. Cada una de ellas puede contener tanto trabajo individual como grupal.

El trabajo autónomo que se debe desarrollar consistirá en:

La recogida y selección de material relevante.
La lectura y el estudio de material.
La preparación de la prueba de evaluación.
La preparación previa y el trabajo posterior tras asistir a las diversas actividades docentes.
Preparación de lecturas, trabajos, y ejercicios prácticos.

4.3. Programa

1.- Estrategias y prácticas cualitativas de investigación social. Su aplicación al Trabajo Social.

2.- Técnicas grupales en investigación cualitativa.

3.- El diseño metodológico de la Investigación-Acción- Participación. Instrumentos dialógicos.

4.- El análisis de la información en investigación cualitativa (material textual y visual).

Segundo módulo

5.- Los problemas de objetividad en la investigación social. La visión emic y la visión etic.

6.- El trabajo de campo: la entrevista.

7.- La observación en investigación cualitativa.

8.- El método genealógico.

9.- Las historias de vida.

4.4. Planificación de las actividades de aprendizaje y calendario de fechas clave

En el caso de que se produjera las suspensión de actividades docentes presenciales los cambios que debieran hacerse, se introducirán a través de addendas como se realizó en el curso 2019-20, siguiendo las instrucciones que establezcan las autoridades de la Universidad.

La programación detallada de las actividades de aprendizaje se proporcionará al principio del periodo docente, de acuerdo con los principios ya expuestos, adecuándose al calendario y horarios.

Las actividades y fechas claves se ajustarán al calendario y horarios establecidos por el equipo decanal y publicados en el centro. Sobre las actividades que correspondan a las exigencias de la metodología particular aplicada en la asignatura (tales como presentación de trabajos, presentaciones en aula, etc.), las profesoras informarán debidamente a los y las estudiantes sobre las fechas y condiciones establecidas. En este caso, debe tenerse en consideración que el canal prioritario de información y comunicación será a través del curso abierto en el ADD.

La organización y desarrollo de la docencia presencial estará supeditada a la planificación de los espacios que realice el centro de acuerdo a las instrucciones de las autoridades sanitarias y académicas.
